The Tatooine terminus. A collection of original Vintage star Wars Kenner and Palitoy toys 1977-1985
The Kenner and Palitoy vintage Star Wars toy line 1977- 1985. No reproduction parts and everything is in complete and in as good as possible condition. This collection, which began in around 1992 after my original toys got sold due to being played with, incomplete and being one battle too many.
Prior to eBay becoming established in around 2002, there were only a handful of vintage star Wars toy shops in the UK and the main two I used were the Corn exchange Manchester where I lived in the 90s and the Norwich Space station when I moved to Norwich. With the arrival of the internet at home, I was able to find some other toy dealers in the USA and a Norwich Star Wars club as well as vintage star Wars toy shops in Europe and UK such as Forbidden Planet, Space dreams, star toys.com and space toys.de.
UK forums such as vintagestarwarsforum.co.uk and Rebelscum have also been a source for me but the arrival of Facebook in around 2006 and the groups on there have also been a valuable resource. Echo base, Jabba’s palace , Jawas Outpost and some specialist American groups. As well as this the popular auction houses such as vectis in the UK and Hakes in the USA have been great. Many of my items have been imported from overseas and some items are from Australia where I lived for five years.
My first collection that my mother kept was stored in the loft around !987 and was forgotten about until around 1992. Most items were broken and missing pieces but some weapons and parts were still there. That’s when I found the Star Wars toy shop in the Manchester corn exchange and began collecting again on a very small scale. You could pick up a complete figure back then for £2-£3.
By 1993 I had a few boxes vehicles and lots of loose figures but It didn’t grow much until I moved to Norwich and found the Norwich space station, Norwich Star Wars club and eBay. Then in around 2005, I sold everything for £900. This collection was loose complete figures and around 5 boxed vehicles with no inserts and another few loose vehicles including an imperial shuttle .
It wasn’t long before I started collecting again but this time I wanted to upgrade everything. I decided then to go for boxed vehicles with inserts and loose complete figures. That’s what I focused on from 2004 to 2014. In 2014 I decided to sell everything again and this time got £3900. This was for many boxed vehicles and around 150 loose figures.
I lasted about two months before I began again and this time I wanted better condition vehicles all with inserts and paperwork and for the first time, I began looking at figures on cards. I also began paying lots of attention to the reproduction market and spent a lot of time researching and cross referencing every item I bought from then on using the imperial gunnery, which is a fantastic resource for collectors of the vintage Star Wars Kenner and Palitoy to line from 1977-1985 all over the world.
